- Responsibility for establishing a treasury center that acted as FTV’s primary (inter-company) finance company. - Deciding upon, and implementing a treasury management system. - Re-designing and implementing the firm’s cash management strategy and structures to ensure that overseas’ excess cash positions were managed and applied most effectively. - Supporting the M&A and Tax teams in the identification, design, and implementation of funding structures that effectively enable the firm to acquire targets at a high execution frequency. - Re-defining treasury (and tax) policies, principles, and guidelines. - Hiring for and managing a team of 6 associates in total.
Accomplishments: - Established a cash management roadmap, identifying annual interest income and expense savings opportunities in excess of USD 10 million and (M&A, inter-company) repatriation/funding opportunities in excess of USD 1.0 billion. - Restructured a number of (multi-currency) cash pools in Europe and Asia and designed and negotiated pooling structures targeted to extract and concentrate cash out of China and other Asian territories. - Substantially implemented an inter-company factoring program to facilitate a significant US cash repatriation effort (repatriated in excess of USD 200M to-date). - Initiated the choice of a treasury management system and lead the end-to-end implementation project, including initiating Corporate membership to SWIFT (and obtaining a company BIC) and direct access into the SWIFT network for payment processing purposes. - Identified significant annual FX risk reduction and dealing savings opportunities with the introduction of a netting solution for one of the operating companies (including introducing financial (FX) supply chain mapping). - Built & trained/supported a new treasury (& tax) team of 3 associates.

Position description New York: - Global responsibility for capital markets activities for the company, including capital structure analysis, and the design and execution of funding strategies from a diverse range of capital sources globally through a Master Trust structure. - Primary responsibility for management of the firm’s banking relationships with a bank group of >50 institutions, which also included periodic reviews with the banks’ credit/risk teams (and support to the development of a share of wallet approach). - Design and execution of the firm’s liquidity risk management strategy to ensure that the firm had access to reliable and adequate amounts of capital through the cycle. - Custodian of the firm’s capital allocation framework, which included managing share repurchase activities and M&A and CapEx financing, ranging from determining the company’s debt capacity to designing the funding strategy for upcoming transactions/projects. - Managing a team of 3 associates in WHQ White Plains (US). Position Rotterdam: - Global responsibility for all cash management activities for the company, which included various cash pooling and sweeping structures, cash forecasting, and (SWIFT) payment processing initiatives. - Responsibility for principally all treasury activities in the EMEA and North American regions, which included concluding local financing arrangements and identifying and managing FX exposures. - Managed a team of 15 front-office (FO) associates in Rotterdam (NL), St Louis (US), and Geneva (CH). Accomplishments New York: - Amended & extended a USD 1.75 billion Revolving Credit Facility, while also executing three bond issuances in the US and European public debt markets (USD 500 and USD 700 million and an inaugural EUR 600 million (followed by a tap of another EUR 200 million) respectively) as well as various committed and uncommitted bi-lats. - Renewed an award-winning Receivables Securitization Program of USD 700 million, while agreeing upon significant program improvements and achieving important cost reductions. - Together with the Corporate Treasurer, managing and developing the rating agencies’ relationships, which included ‘educating’ these agencies on sector-specific issues and methodologies. - Constantly working on solutions/initiatives in the (structured) trade finance area. - Designed and implemented strategies to manage Bunge’s interest rate risks and monetary (net investment) exposures. - Drafted and implemented various treasury-related policies (e.g., FX exposure management, trade finance, investment, joint ventures), taking into account regional differences (developed versus emerging markets). Accomplishments Rotterdam: - Re-structured teams with distinct FO, MO and BO duties across the different regions. - Implemented a global, multi-entity, cross-currency, notional pool. - Initiated, approved and executed (or rejected) various supply chain financing programs (inventory repo program, hybrid railcar lease program, (reverse) factoring programs) taking into account impact on WACC, ROIC, RoE, NI, company ratings, as well as on the company’s Master Trust arrangement. - Renewed the inter-company funding model and a tax efficient CDS arrangement (with Tax). - Actively managed 'higher' country risks of the company (e.g., Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine, Turkey).

Accomplishments: - Prior to and following the acquisition of the AB Sciex business, which was a Joint Venture of Life Technologies and MDS, by DHR (as an asset deal), played a pivotal role in establishing and registering ~35 legal entities across the world, defining and implementing the, from a tax perspective, most optimal financial/fiscal flows for products and services globally (in view of systems, organizational, and time constraints), and continuously supporting the operational start-up of a new global company with ~USD 600 million of revenues as of Day One in only a couple of months’ time. - Designed and built a Finance SSC in the Netherlands and supporting the same for one in Singapore and North America. Hired and trained a new treasury team. - Designed global transfer pricing policies and arranged for all distributors, sales agents, and service entities to achieve the annually targeted income margins as well as drafted all inter-company agreements and other contemporaneous documentation (for tax purposes). - Re-negotiated the Singapore pioneer grant and various tax & customs (valuation) rulings. - Was requested to execute a significant business optimization project at other DHR operating companies, such as Leica Microsystems and Videojet Technologies. - Managed a team of 3 associates, including 1 in California, US. Subsequently, (hired and) managed a finance team of 10 associates.

Accomplishments: - Established an international treasury roadmap, (re-) built the European treasury, tax, and US FX teams. - Implemented a network banking structure in Europe, Japan, and the Asia-Pacific region, expanded the in-house banking model globally, and rolled out a treasury management system, including straight-through payment processing, thereby generating substantial tangible and intangible savings. - Co-Lead the multi-functional project for the introduction of the euro (together with a commercial leader), including assessing the sales & marketing impact, and upgrading SAP to euro-readiness. - Was requested to stabilize and lead the European tax function; lead or supported various, multi-functional, new business process, and business process change & improvement projects, the implementation of a shared service center model, a business structuring project (principal/commissionaire model) and subsequent improvement & conversion projects. - Was requested to complete an assignment in WHQ (US) during which time the responsibility for global FX management was assumed, including advising the Finance teams of the proper application of SFAS133 and the re-design of the consolidated currency exposure forecasting model. - Prepared a comparative analysis for “Wallstreet” on the merits of the FX program. - Co-lead the HIA (cash repatriation) initiative. - Managed a team of 8 associates, including 2 in the US and 2 (global trade compliance, i.e., Customs experts) on a dotted-line basis.
